Description
This project proposal is under the procedure "Use of geothermal energy for heating or for heating and cooling in state or municipal buildings" under the program "WEEEES" of the EEA FM 2014-2021. In the project in the building of DG "Veselushko", in the town of Pomorie at 173 Knyaz Boris I Street, measures for the use of geothermal energy will be implemented. The choice of facilities was made on the basis of detailed calculations of the thermal needs of the building and prepared energy audit.To increase the energy efficiency of the building, it is proposed to implement a renewable energy source by building a geothermal heat pump installation, using water-cooled water cooling units. to heat pump units.Additionally, the implementation of a monitoring system for energy consumption is envisaged and includes delivery and installation of an ultrasonic heat / heat meter, taking into account the heat and cold energy generated by the heat pump units, as well as control electricity meters, project management and audit. In order to exchange experience, knowledge and best practices at the management and expert level, the municipality of Pomorie will implement the project in partnership with Norsk Energy, Norway. For the successful implementation of the project the Beneficiary will conduct procedures in accordance with the requirements of the Public Procurement Act for selection of contractors of the project activities, will participate with its representatives in the project team and will control the strict implementation of the set activities. As a result of the project implementation, the expected production from geothermal energy will be 190.53 MWh, and the saved CO2 emissions - 224,825 t / y. Installed capacity of heating equipment / units and heating and cooling, incl. hot water supply (design heat capacity) - 0,1481 MWt.
Summary of project results
This project proposal contributes to solving problems related to the growth of energy consumption in recent years and the energy supply of the educational infrastructure, as one of the major energy consumers in the municipality of Pomorie. The overall objective of the project is to reduce energy consumption through the implementation of energy-efficient measures, while ensuring compliance with European and national standards and increasing the share of renewable energy in gross final energy consumption and achieving decarbonization of the building stock. The specific objectives of the project are:
-to reduce maintenance costs and electricity consumption by implementing a renewable energy source through the construction of a geothermal heat pump installation using water-cooled water-cooled chillers in the building of the Veselushko Public School in Pomorie.
-To effectively and economically utilize the existing potential of renewable energy on the territory of the municipality of Pomorie, by significantly improving the energy efficiency in the building of the "Veselushko" public housing complex in the city of Pomorie.
-To meet the social needs of society and improve the infrastructure of settlements in the municipality of Pomorie, as well as to fulfill the requirements of the regulatory acts related to environmental protection and human safety.
-To reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy production from renewable sources and improve energy efficiency and energy management;
-To promote national and international cooperation in the field of using geothermal energy for heating or for heating and cooling and the implementation of good practices in the field of green energy and energy efficiency.
In order to increase the energy efficiency of the building is introduced a renewable energy source by building a geothermal heat pump installation by means of water-cooled water cooling units. They are used for heating and cooling and domestic hot water supply of the building and use the constant ground temperature as a source of heat/cold through 22 closed/dry, non-water/geothermal wells. Each vertical drilling consists of two coils with two pipes laid in a common package. The heat/cold utilized by the ground through a pipe network of pipes reaches a geothermal collector, from which the distributor/collector is delivered to the heat pump units. The necessary additional technological equipment is located in the basement of the building. The existing hot water boiler and heating system is preserved and remains an alternative option for heating the building. Additionally, the implementation of a monitoring system for energy consumption is implemented and includes delivery and installation of an ultrasonic heat/heat meter, taking into account the heat and cold energy generated by the heat pump units, as well as control electricity meters. The heat carrier is hot water and is provided by the heat pump units. The pipe network is two-pipe with lower distribution, closed system. Two risers are provided. Heating/cooling units are fan convectors for open ceiling and floor-wall installation. Each convector is equipped with a ball valve with a hollander; external digital room thermostat with 3 fan speeds+automatic, winter/summer, on/off, one valve as standard equipped with an additional sensor monitoring the water temperature. One of the heat pump units is used as an energy source.
Summary of bilateral results
Improved bilateral cooperation with interested stakeholders in the field of energy efficiency to present good practices and future development of the city and the municipality in this regard.
