The Project aims at building a modernized municipal systems for external artificial lighting (SEAL) by introducing EE measures in two districts of Plovdiv - Central (between Koprivshtitza Blvd., Maritza-Iug Blvd, Ruski Blvd and Hristo Botev Blvd) and South (between Komatevsko Shose Str., Academic Petar Dinekov Str., Makedonia Blvd. and Nikola Vaptsarov Blvd).The overall objective of the project is to ensure the increase of EE through technological upgrading and modernization of the SEAL in Plovdiv in accordance with the national and EU requirements. It will be implemented through the following sub-goals: 1.Introduction of ECM in two districts of Plovdiv Municipality -Central and South, by replacing the existing HPSL and CFL-based street lighting with modern LED luminaires with light output min. 120 lm/W; 2.Establishment of a system for automatic management and monitoring of SEAL; 3.Introduction of RE production facilities for the needs of SEAL. The project contributes directly to the fulfillment of the main objective of the procedure "Rehabilitation and modernization of municipal infrastructure - systems of external artificial lighting of municipalities", under the EEA FM 2014-2021, helping to achieve the targets set indicators - reducing CO2, achieving energy and financial savings, incl.- improving living conditions for the population. The project is in full correspondence with the Energy Strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria till 2020, supporting the country''s sustainable energy development and contributing to the achievement of goals such as: reducing pollutants, increasing the use of RES, increasing EE and others. The project also contributes to the implementation of leading EU policies in the field such as: reducing energy consumption and dependence on energy imports by building a modern, low-energy and an alternative SEAL power supply.
