Description

The project "Burgas, exciting and artistic" aims to improve access to cultural content in the municipality of Burgas for children and youth from ethnic and cultural minorities, people with a low socio-economic profile and disadvantaged people. The organization of new cultural events, creative workshops and theater tours in neighborhoods outside the city center and in the constituent settlements of the municipality will provide opportunities for marginalized or excluded from access to cultural events children and youth to develop social and cultural ties, to stimulate creative demand, to consolidate the community and build an inclusive culture. The target groups of the project are minorities of Roma and Turkish ethnicity, the Russian immigrant community, disadvantaged youth and people with low social status. The project envisages measures and policies for the integration of cultural and ethnic minorities and a positive perception of the migration experience, promotes bilateral cooperation and exchange in the field of performing arts. The project proposal also includes activities to improve the tools and expertise of local authorities in exercising their powers in the field of culture to plan and organize cultural events, to attract the widest range and diverse audiences. The implementation of the project activities will attract new audiences, increase interest and cultural consumption, by removing physical or financial barriers to access to culture, will optimize the approach of local authorities in offering cultural products to meet the needs and interests. of different communities and audience segments.

Summary of project results

The project aims at improving access to culture in the municipality of Burgas by holding new cultural events, creative workshops and theater tours in neighbourhoods outside the city centre and in the smaller settlements of the region. This will provide opportunities for marginalized or excluded from access to cultural events children and youth to develop social and cultural experience. The target groups of the project include Roma and Turkish ethnic groups, as well as the Russian immigrant community, disadvantaged youth and people with low social status.

The main activities of the project include the preparation of a Plan for attracting diverse audiences, training for experts of the beneficiary and representatives of cultural institutions from the Municipality of Burgas, organization and holding of an innovative cultural event - "Burgas, exciting and artistic all year round", a traveling theater tour, as well as organizing a theater movement workshop and an international dance workshop.

The project envisaged measures and policies for the integration of cultural and ethnic minorities and a positive perception of the migration experience. It has also promoted bilateral cooperation and exchange in the field of performing arts. The project included activities to improve the expertise of local entities and the local government in planning and organizing cultural events and attracting diverse audiences. The implementation of the project activities has increased interest and cultural demand by removing physical or financial barriers to access to culture. It allowed for a new approach in offering cultural products to meet the needs and interests of different communities and audience segments.

Summary of bilateral results

The Icelandic partner successfully implemented an international dance workshop, with a valuable exchange of experience and good practices, which was highly appreciated and increased the knowledge and dance skills of 15 dancers who took part in it.
