Description

The project proposal ‘FestivitIN’ the Neighbourhood’ /FINN/ has the goal to contribute to the process of reducing economic and social disparities in the EEA, by implementing cultural activities, promoting cultural cooperation and heritage and at the same time strengthening social and economic development of the region. The specific project goals are: - To develop the capacity of cultural operators in the diversity of arts and culture, with a search for compatibility and complementarity in their presentation to the public; - To form a favourable environment for intercultural communication /neighbourhood, city, region/ and to contribute to overcome community isolation through development of existing and creating of new cultural products, including new audiences. The project goals will be achieved through realization of a complex of activities, including: - Local culture operators training; - Development of a Plan for attraction of audiences; - Events, outside the city center /creative workshop/; - Events on a local and on a national level – tours. These activities will be implemented in partnership with 4 local and 1 Norwegian organization. Experts and artists from the region, the country, Kingdom of Norway and other European countries will be involved. ‘FestivitIN’ the Neighbourhood’ is an overall concept to activate the urban neighbourhoods by the means of art. The activity envisages creation of a new cultural form of communication and interaction between artists and audiences, based on human sensibility. So, as different arts influence different senses, the project combines arts and stage forms into a series of festival modules, addressed to the general public of 5 different urban areas. Thus, the art - visual, musical, interactive, from merely visual and auditory perception, turns into an instrument of inclusion and growth, developing the sensibility of the audience.

Summary of project results

FestivalNo in the Neighborhood aims to activate the urban neighborhoods of Gabrovo with the means of art. The activities envisage the creation of a new cultural form of communication and interaction between artists and the public, based on human sensitivity. The project unites arts and performing arts in a series of festival modules, designed for 5 urban districts and aimed at the general public. The aim of the project is to develop the capacity of cultural operators in the municipality by seeking compatibility and complementarity of artistic events in front of an audience and ultimately to contribute to overcoming isolation. The project activities should be implemented in partnership with 4 Bulgarian and 1 Norwegian organization, with the participation of experts and artists from the region, the country, the Kingdom of Norway and other European countries.

The project activities include training of local cultural operators by experts of the partner Oslo International Hub, which expanded their competencies with new knowledge that can be adapted to the local context and applied in future work when planning activities and addressing a specific audience. An Audience Attraction Plan was developed and a new manifestation of culture and art was created - "FestivalNo in the Neighborhood". The festival concept was held in 5 city districts of Gabrovo, where thematic festival events were organized in the following modules: ''Hear Me, Feel the Sound'' - concert evenings, sound workshops, creative studios of sound installations, research of the sound-form relationship, verbal folklore; ''See Me, Visions'' - puppet shows, theater, exhibitions, performances, shadow theater, dance performance; ‘Touch me, Feel the touch’ - a reading marathon, book exchange, dance, illusion art, graffiti, fire shows; ‘Taste me, Feel the taste’ - culinary evenings, carving, sugar sculptures, wine tastings, applications/mosaics from natural materials; and ‘Feel me, Sense’ - creation of installations with tactile writing, spectacles of the deprived senses - a blindfolded concert, workshops related to traditional crafts for Gabrovo.

The project managed to achieve a new expression in diversity, variability in the cultural product and its presentation, attracting new audiences, as well as involving them in the creative process, through communication and familiarization with international experience and other cultures.

Summary of bilateral results
