Summary of the results

The result of the study tour is the establishment of contacts between the expert community and representatives of institutions from Slovakia with the community of innovators, policy makers and investors during the duration of the Oslo Innovation Week 2024. These contacts can subsequently be beneficially developed into complex relationships and cooperation, where innovations, resources and capacity building are linked for the broad deployment of solutions for the successful reduction of climate risks in wide territories.
The initiative expanded the network of Slovak experts and institutions that have been changing global thinking and integrated planning practices through a new water paradigm that links water, land and climate systems. One of their significant professional outputs was the formulation of the White Paper and its presentation at the UN 2023 Water Conference.
The initiative aimed to find possible investors for the development of a new source of funding. During the workshop, the participants explored potential areas for attracting Norwegian investment and discussed the most promising sources. They concluded that, rather than seeking investors from the general business sector, special funds would be a more suitable avenue for potential investment. Workshop provided the investors with a vision of more stable investment portfolio and for disaster risks reduction. New economy of ecosystems services will be a new investment opportunity in coming years.
