Inclusive and Affordable Housing (Strengthening Norway – Slovakia Relations in Social Innovation in Housing) - BIN BF04_2023_020
The objective of this initiative is to strengthen bilateral relations in the area of social innovation in housing. By fostering collaboration between Slovakia and Norway, the aim is to address housing topics, such as financial barriers in affordable housing, faced by in Norway people with average earnings and in Slovakia also individuals with disabilities or elderly individuals grappling with low incomes.

Summary of the results
The workshop on "Social Innovations in Housing" aimed to foster innovative solutions to pressing housing challenges. Key results anticipated from this activity include:
Enhanced Stakeholder Collaboration: The workshop established a platform for diverse stakeholders to collaboratively address housing challenges. This network is expected to drive continued dialogue and partnerships.
Strategic Insights and Action Plans: Discussions identified critical areas for action, such as addressing Slovakia''s housing deficit (500,000 units), reforming legislative barriers, and fostering public-private cooperation. Concrete personal action plans were formulated, targeting advocacy, policy reforms, and pilot projects.
Innovative Housing Models: The exchange highlighted international examples like Norway''s "Third Housing Sector" and explored their application in Slovakia. Proposals included data-driven housing strategies, community-first designs, and innovative financing mechanisms to address the needs of vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities and the elderly.
Policy and Legislative Advocacy: Participants committed to promoting legislative changes to enhance housing accessibility and sustainability, focusing on desegregation, social housing, and improved public administration capacities.
