Description

The Days of Maximilian Hell is the cultural and educational initiative organised at the occasion of 300th anniversary of Maximilian Hell´s birth, who was borned in Stiavnicke Bane. The initiative consists of two interrelated activities. First activity is a study trip of primary school students from Stiavnicke Bane to Vardo and Tromso (Norway), where astronomer Maximilian Hell worked and lived. Slovak students will visit Vardø upper secondary school and will also have opportunity to observe the sky behind the polar circle in Tromso.

Summary of the results

Due to travel restrictions in 2020 and 2021, the beneficiary decided to modify the planned initiative and prepared on-line workshop "The Days of Maximilian Hell" which consisted of several smaller activities such as international art competition (The Hell''s Stars), cultural and educational expedition ("In the footsteps of Maximilian Hell"), public falconry show and concert of Slovak-Norwegian music group. Activities were prepared in cooperation with all partners and attended by students from primary school in Slovakia and Norway, pedagogues and researchers with altogether by more than 270 participants. The initiative was widely promoted on social media, websites and the local press.
