Description

The Bilateral Initiative is aimed to introduce an interactive way of education in themes of human and civic rights to elementary schools in Slovakia and in Norway, while in reality the Slovak education curricula very much lack effective addressing these themes. The cooperation between OSF Bratislava, Rozmarínová Primary School in Komárno and Håvåsen Skole in Haugesund has been ongoing since 2020 and has been implemented in the form of online meetings between students from Slovakia and Norway. The aim of these meetings was to develop cultural exchange between young people from both countries

Summary of the results

The “Cultural exchange” was part of a long term cooperation between the two schools - Rozmarínová Primary School in Komárno in Slovakia and Håvåsen Skole in Haugesund in Norway.

The aim of cooperation was to develop cultural exchange between young people from both countries involved, as well as to develop their knowledge in the field of human rights and their ability to communicate in English.

Intensive on-line cooperation between the schools started back in 2020 and lasted also during the whole covid pandemic. The exchange trip of Slovak students to Norway took place 24 – 28 April 2023. The trip involved 15 participating students, 2 teachers and the Fund Operator representative. In addition to visiting the school in Håvåsen, the students also visited “22nd of July Center” dedicated to the topic of the terrorist attacks on the island of Utøya on 22 July 2011. The Slovak students attended a short lecture about the events and visited the exhibition of the centre.
