Europe''s charter on Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human rights education identifies that education plays an essential role in the promotion of core values such as democracy, human rights and rule of law as well as in prevention of human rights violations. Education is also increasingly seen as a defense tool against rise of violence, extremism, populism, xenophobia, discrimination and intolerance.

The Active Citizens Days in Oslo held on September 10-11, 2019, gave the organizations from across the beneficiary countries and Norway, working on civic education an opportunity to come

Summary of the results

Europe''s charter on Education for Democratic Citizenship and Human rights education identifies that education plays an essential role in the promotion of core values such as democracy, human rights and rule of law as well as in prevention of human rights violations. Education is also increasingly seen as a defense tool against rise of violence, extremism, populism, xenophobia, discrimination and intolerance.

The Active Citizens Days in Oslo held on September 10-11, 2019, gave the organizations from across the beneficiary countries and Norway, working on civic education an opportunity to come together and discuss the most challenging and pressing issues that they have in their work.

Agenda included workshops and discussion on topics of rule of law, principles of tolerance and inclusiveness in communities, creating more engagement and facing the populism.

ACF Slovakia was an co/organising partner of the event to NHC Norway and  ACF Bulgaria and Czech Republic. 6 participants representing 6 relevant CSOs from Slovakia participated at the event, including Center for Research of Ethnicity and Culture, Children of Slovakia Foundation, Center of Community Organising, Slovak Debate Association, Milan Simecka Foundation.
