Description

In February 2018 Slovenia and Norway organized a successful 2-day expert conference on women, peace and security within the scope of the Bilateral Fund of the EEA and Norway Grants 2009-2014. Based on the proposal made at the bilateral consultations to meet again in two years and on the opinion of the majority of the participants, also on the second day, on the need and usefulness of such platforms, a similar 2-day expert event will be organized in 2021 and 2023. Goals of the event will be i/ to build on the dialogue between Slovenia and Norway on women, peace and security, established in 2018

Summary of the results

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway, organised a two-day expert consultation on women, peace and security on 27th  and 28th  March 2023. On the first day, bilateral consultations between Slovenia and Norway on women, peace and security took place. On the second day, a regional expert event titled "Challenges and Opportunities for the Agenda for Women, Peace and Security: Views from South-Eastern Europe and Ukraine" was held. This event brought together, in addition to Slovenian and Norwegian representatives, also representatives from governmental and non-governmental organisations of the countries in South-Eastern Europe and Ukraine, non-governmental and academic representatives from Slovenia, and representatives of international and regional organisations.
