Description

The project foresees implementing an integrated network of clinical trials for non-pharmacological health care interventions, such as patient education, health literacy or physical activity promotion, that do not exist yet in Europe. This bilateral initiative will begin with meetings and setting up the bases from experienced researchers from Norway and Portugal and then expand. Summary of the results

The TRACTION project aimed to establish an integrated network for conducting clinical trials on non-pharmacological health care interventions. These interventions include patient education, health literacy, and physical activity promotion, primarily conducted by non-medical health professionals.
The project organized a 1.5-day workshop in May 2023 at ESEL, featuring renowned international speakers, with 18 early career researchers (5 international ones). This workshop provided valuable training on non-pharmacological clinical trials, and the lectures are now freely available on YouTube with Portuguese subtitles. The project facilitated virtual and presential meetings between Portuguese and Norwegian researchers, fostering strong bilateral cooperation. Educational materials were developed and disseminated through various channels, and a scientific manuscript was published in BMJ Open, promoting the network internationally. Additionally, a comprehensive website was created to serve as a hub for resources, updates, and collaboration among researchers and healthcare professionals.
After the publication of the scientific article, our team was contacted by the management of the Non-Pharmacological Intervention Society (NPIS) to establish a partnership.
