Description

Light is an outstanding tool since is non-evasive and capable of fast and controllable delivery to precise locations. In this context, the research of Light interaction with Organic Molecules, synthesizing new light-triggered chemical entities with proven biological activity against cancer cells and pathogens inactivation, using Photodynamic therapy (PDT) as a therapeutical approach is very interesting. Different approaches have been used to tackle this drawbacks and OUH team developed and disclosed an innovative and original technology based on Photochemical Internalization (PCI) for the

Summary of the results

This collaboration aimed to foster cooperation between two research teams with distinct yet complementary knowledge bases. The expertise in photosensitizer preparation from the Aveiro team, coupled with the Oslo team''s proficiency in PCI technology, enables more informed, efficient, and translational scientific research. This partnership facilitated not only the exchange of knowledge among researchers but also the mentoring of two doctoral students from the University of Aveiro in PCI techniques, who were integrated into the team at Oslo University Hospital. The technical collaboration fostered by this bilateral initiative facilitated a connection between the two teams, resulting in the successful preparation of a photosensitizer tailored for PCI, with preliminary biological results showing promising applicability. This effort led to an oral presentation at the 20th Congress of the European Society of Photobiology, Lyon-France and laid the groundwork for a forthcoming scientific publication. Additionally, it promoted cooperation and mutual understanding among teams, paving the way for the submission of new projects.
