Summary of the results

Following the results-based management approach, the initiative aimed to contribute to the evaluation of occupational exposure to microorganisms of workers in the waste management industry and more specifically in waste sorting. waste management industry and, more specifically, in waste sorting.
This initiative contemplated several activities such as the collection of environmental samples in the spaces in Portugal and Norway, the comparison of data between the samples collected, the sharing of collected, the sharing of knowledge and the presentation of the results of the study carried out.
The results were presented to the companies participating in the study and are intended to be a contribution to support future regulatory measures, which aim to minimise occupational exposure and occupational exposure and, consequently, prevent occupational diseases.
The initiative will also allow, in the future, to contribute to the suggestion of indicators for evaluation of exposure to microbiological agents.
