Summary of the results
The sessions took place exactly as planned in the application timeline. The workshops and activities described in the application were implemented, and even slightly more than originally planned.
Each session included 20 Ukrainian women (18+) and 30 children aged 6-17 who had arrived in Poland directly from Ukraine due to the ongoing war in their home country. Most of the participants were families from eastern Ukraine, who did not speak Polish and were in difficult economic situations. These families faced additional challenges in Poland, including special needs related to integration with the local Polish community, education, personal development in key skills, as well as a need to reduce stress and increase their sense of security.
A common characteristic of the participants, apart from their Ukrainian origin, was the experience of severe trauma, struggles with anxiety, stress, feelings of loss, guilt, and sadness.
As part of the workshops, the following activities were conducted, which helped deal with psychological problems, build self-esteem and family safety and increase social competences:
- Workshops and consultations with a Ukrainian-speaking psychologist,
- Meetings with a pediatric neurologist specializing in children''s sleep disorders,
- Alpaca therapy at the Jo-Alpa center in Lusowo,
- Dog therapy,
- Yoga and breathing meditation sessions,
- Practical Polish language and Polish culture lessons,
- English lessons, and
- Workshops on writing CVs.
