Description

The aim of the initiative is an exchange of experience, a visit about the Norwegian research organization and the system of state administrative institutions in the process of knowledge transfer and the management of intellectual property rights.
Several meetings are planned as part of the visit, during which the participants will get acquainted with the support system established by the Research Council of Norway and the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Science for the transfer of technology and knowledge to research organizations and companies, the experience of the Norwegian Innovation

Summary of the results

Representatives of the Latvian Council of Science took part in a study visit, during which they got acquainted with the Research Council of Norway support system for technology and knowledge transfer between research organisations and companies, as well as with the Norwegian Innovation Office''s programmes and experience in promoting innovation in companies. The visit also included an introduction to the activities of research organisations in the field of technology and innovation transfer: the activities of the technology transfer offices of the University of Oslo and the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and the support system for researchers, as well as the experience of SINTEF in technology and knowledge transfer. The visit also provided an opportunity to meet with EEA Baltic Research Programme project representatives from the Norwegian partners, gaining information on their experiences and conclusions in project implementation.
The visit has resulted in a number of conclusions and proposals for further development of the Baltic Research Programme and cooperation with the Research Council of Norway, paying more attention to project impact assessment and technology and knowledge transfer aspects, mobility activities in research projects, as well as assessing the possibility to develop and establish a Latvian Science Council calls support system for technology and knowledge transfer projects, based on the experience of Norwegian institutions.
