In April 26-27, 2022, 4 Latvian scientists attended a study visit to Brussels. Participation in the study visit allowed to get to know the structure of Horizon''s programs in detail, especially in the thematic clusters of the 2 pillar and "Climate Neutral D67and Smart Cities" and "Food, Bioeconomy, Material Resources and Environment", the guidelines of European Commission for research and innovation projects, as well as with the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanism Program “Research and Education”; the visit was evaluated as an important measure for the acquisition of new contacts and

Summary of the results

Project researchers of the Baltic Research Program participated in a study visit organized by the Research Council of Norway, Lithuania and Estonia, the topic of which is research in the field of the city and the environment, which took place on April 26, 27, 2022 in Brussels.

Participation in the event gave an opportunity to get acquainted in detail with the structure of Horizon Europe programs, the European Commission''s guidelines in the field of research and innovation projects, as well as with the EEA-Norwegian Financial Instrument Program "Research and Education".

The study visit has given the participants of the event the opportunity to get new contacts from the scientific institutions of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Norway, Iceland, municipalities, state administrative institutions and other science-related organizations, institutions of the European Commission.  The participants of the study visit recognized that the obtained contacts are useful in the preparation of future research project applications and the development of new research directions. The participants of the study visit emphasized that the participation of local government representatives was also important, establishing new contacts in order to ensure the involvement of local governments in future project applications and to develop wider interdisciplinary cooperation in the field of research.
