In 2019 bilateral cooperation event took place in Romania, from 17 - 18 January, which later led to results that goes beyond the planned activities in the results framework. The meeting organized by Directorate of Norwegian Correctional Service (KDI) for programme operators and project promoters. The aim of the meeting was to strengthen cooperation and synergies between the 6 beneficiary states (BS) and donor state. Summary of the results
Participants of the bilateral cooperation event from 5 beneficiary states (Lithuania, Romania, Czech Republic, Poland, and Bulgaria) were presented the experience of Latvia in implementation of NFM programmes and projects in the previous periods. They were introduced with NFM 2014-2021 period programme and project target, objectives and planned activities.An agreement was reached to establish 3 working groups ("Education", "Conferences and seminars" and "Evaluation and Indicators") and respective group leaders appointed. This is a new form of partnership in NFM, aimed at strengthening cooperation and synergies between the respective six BS and donor state, involving all NFM period Programme operators who share a common objective – to improve infrastructure for the staff of correctional services. Discussion was held on common bilateral cooperation plans and activities for 2019–2024. A sworn auditor has examined expenses in the programme for 2018 and has issued a positive auditor’s report.
