The visit will cover topics related to climate data analysis, climate change models, new  SSP climate change scenarios, climate change data monitoring

Summary of the results

The implementation of the initiative strengthened bilateral relations and cooperation between the Ministry of Climate and Energy, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.

The exchange of good practices on climate data analysis, climate change modelling and communication were promoted by experts from Latvia and Norway. Latvian experts gained knowledge and experience about the practice of Norway in future climate change data analysis and meteorological observation data quality control. During the visit, not only the climate change models, and the results of their scenarios were discussed, but also the current climate change and the challenges that countries face when working with meteorological observations, radar and satellite data.

At the end of the visit, specialists from both countries agreed on potential cooperation issues, by continuing to solve the challenges of past and future climate change data analysis, and by in-depth research into the needs of society and various areas of the economy, in order to adapt the changing climate together.
