Description

The initiative will strengthen scientific cooperation and research exchange between Latvia and Norway, as well as Estonia and Lithuania. In addition, the initiative aims to establish a network of leading research think tanks to collaborate, with the aim of making more active use of available research tools, technological know-how and offices, as well as sending researchers to other institutes. This initiative will allow the four designated think tanks to set up a long-lasting cooperation network with a continuation after this specific research.

The aim of the research proposed by the Norway

Summary of the results

  • A consortium of three Baltic and one Norwegian research institutions has been established and cooperation enhanced during the expert exchanges and in presence seminars followed by informal participant discussions. As a result, 4 other joint initiatives were implemented during the project period among the consortium partners and new project initiatives were launched, including Horizon Europe application.
  • Research on critical infrastructure systems and communication in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania and Norway was conducted, and the four country assessments were transformed into a monolete book.
  • Four public seminars were held in capital cities of the project participant countries. In Oslo (19 October 2021), Vilnius (9 November), Tallinn (7 December) and the gala event in Riga (9 December 2021), reflecting upon the interim results of the research, i.e., explaining critical infrastructure systems, its main features and political background in each country. 
  • Finally, the book distribution and publicity activities were carried out. Out of physical 450 book copies, some 200-300 copies have already been distributed to the institutional and national libraries and cooperation partners of each institution and project participant. Additional media campaign has been implemented in Latvia informing about the main book conclusions and its open access availability.
