Summary of the results

The initiative significantly advanced the goals of the ACF strategic project "Strategic partnerships for sustainable future" by enhancing youth understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their ability to influence global processes at the local level. A visit program was developed with the Icelandic organization "Landssamband ungmennafélaga" (LUF). During the vist, participants toured the FESTA organization to learn about SDG implementation, established contact with the Reykjavik Youth Center, visited a geothermal station with an exhibition on Iceland’s geothermal resources, and met with the National Youth Council of Iceland (LUF) to discuss their "SDGs Ambassadors" program. Participants gained practical knowledge to become effective "SDG ambassadors" in their communities, strengthening their local sustainability efforts. They gained deeper insights into SDG advocacy, especially in rural areas, and were motivated to promote these values among their peers. The project’s long-term impact was solidified by empowering youth leaders with tools, confidence, and networks to champion SDGs and foster a more sustainable future. The exchange also facilitated meaningful connections between Latvian and Icelandic organizations. In-person meetings with project partners helped build a deeper understanding of each organization''s principles, working styles, and motivations.
