Description

Aim of the initiative is to strengthen the joint EEA and Baltic cooperation platform, in which beneficiary states can share experience and expertise in research management, as well as promote development of common future initiatives and common cooperation mechanisms.
Activities of the initiative – organizing the meeting of Programme operators from Latvia and Lithuania in Vilnius with the aim of presenting the implementation of research policy and activities of institutions.

Summary of the results

Programme partners (Programme Operator and Implementing Agency representatives) from Latvian and Lithuanian partners participated in the joint meeting in Vilnius on 27-28 September 2023 with the aim of presenting the implementation of research policy and activities of institutions as well as promoting development of common future initiatives and common cooperation mechanisms including ideas for further cooperation under EEA Mechanisms grants. During the meeting, the Latvian colleagues were introduced to the structural set-up of the Research Council of Lithuania, the cooperation between science and research policy makers and policy implementing institutions, the main strategic directions and areas of activity. Latvian representatives also shared their experience on this topic. Ministry of Education, Science and Sport acting as a programme partner in Lithuania was also included in the meeting. The meeting was organised under the bilateral initiative “Strengthening the EEA-Baltic Joint Cooperation Platform for Research Administrators”. This initiative was prepared in close cooperation with Research Council of Norway as a donor partner and approved by the Programme Committee.
