Description
This bilateral activity will contribute to raising preparedness and awareness in the field of traffic safety in the Republic of Croatia through the education of firefighters. The activity will be carried out through workshops and joint training of trainers.
The experience of the Norwegian partner will help to improve the work of Croatian firefighters regarding traffic and how to contribute the improve the road safety in Croatia. Also, educational materials and a promotional video will be prepared.
Summary of the results
The Applicant - Croatian Firefighting Association (CFA) and the Partner – CTIF Norway implemented all activities planned by the Bilateral Grant Application. The exchange of experience and practical skills in matters of road rescue were fully achieved. Norwegian and Croatian Firefighting organizations participated in exchange of practices. Capacities were improved on several levels:
- on national level (5 CFA instructors and 10 trainers from National fire-fighting intervention unit and 42 members of Croatian Firefighting School),
- on county level (79 Croatian instructors, 12 Norway instructors involved and educated 112 trainers from all counties from Croatia),
- and on local level (Fire-fighting units of Kongsberg (Norway) and Karlovac (Croatia)- 80 participants). The Croatian fire-fighters learned the most used chain rescue technique in Norway, rescue basics with electric cars and basic first aid measures in traffic accidents. The Norway fire-fighters learned many skills regarding rescue operations with scissors and discords.

Educational film – theory in practice regarding traffic accidents was produced that will be used for instructors – best practices.
