Description

The purpose of the bilateral initiative organized by the representatives of the Czech Ministry of Finance, the Czech Ministry of Justice and in cooperation with the Directorate of Norwegian Correctional Services is to inform professional public and experts in the area of penitentiary and post-penitentiary care about the new programme period of the Norway Grants 2014 – 2021 in the area of justice. The Launch Conference will gather potential project promoters and potential donor project partners (to meet, discuss, and exchange ideas of partnership opportunities) as well as speakers engaged in

Summary of the results

The Launch konference of the Justice Program was held on 20 March 2019. The conference was attended by experts from the programme areas of support as well as representatives of public administration. The importance of support for the Czech Correctional system was emphasized by the Minister of Justice Mr Jan Kněžínek and H. E. Robert Kvile, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to the Czech Republic. Representatives of the Directorate of Norwegian Correctional Services, the Council of Europe, the Prison Service of the Czech Republic, the Probation and Mediation Service of the Czech Republic as well as representatives of NGOs working in justice sector were also present at the conference.

Participants of the Launch Conference were informed about the content of the Justice Program which focuses on two program areas, which are “Correctional Services and Pre-trial Detention” and “Effectiveness and Efficiency of the Judicial System, Strengthening Rule of Law”. Additional program for the participants of the Conference, especially for the Norwegian partners, was also offered. They could hear an interesting presentation focused on the view of the chief chaplain of the Prison Service of the Czech Republic at the work with prisoners. Afterwards, during the small round tables all representatives of the pre-defined project had the chance to meet their partners in person and discuss schedules and topics of  study trips to Norway.
