Description

The aim of the bilateral initiative is to organize a joint side event of the Office of the Czech Government and the Norwegian NGO Alternativ til Vold (“ATV”) at the 63rd session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women (“CSW”). The initiative will play an important role for future PDP and will further foster the bilateral cooperation between ATV and the Office of the Czech Government. It will also enable to present the Czech Republic and Norway as countries standing together against gender-based violence.

Summary of the results

The Office of the Government of the Czech Republic and the ATV achieved to present the Czech Republic and Norway within the international community as states that are actively and jointly dedicated to the prevention of domestic and gender-based violence. Furthermore, both organizations established cooperation with France in the field of prevention of domestic and gender-based violence through a bilateral meeting and a promise of cooperation in the future. Thanks to this initiative, the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic could improve the conditions for the successful implementation of bilateral cooperation with ATV in the prepared pre-defined project, to deepen cooperation with ATV through a new contact with expert Hanne Eriksen and to increase the expert knowledge of the Gender Equality Department in the field of domestic and gender-based violence prevention based on examples of good practice from other countries . With the help of an elaborated electronic guide (http://www.vlada.cz/cz/ppov/rovne-prilezitosti-zen-a-muzu/aktuality/ceska-delegace-na-63--zasedani-komise-osn-pro-postaveni-zen--174419/), it was possible to inform the public about the joint participation of the Czech Republic and ATV in the 63rd meeting of the UN Commission on the Status of Women and the outcomes of this participation.
