Description

The initiative aims at launch the “Czech-Norwegian Hub for the Study and Prevention of Inequalities in Educational Systems” (CZ-NO HUB) that will enhance scientific capacity of the Faculty of Humanities, Tomas Bata University in Zlín (RCFH), Czechia and the Department of Education, UiT The Arctic University of Norway in Tromsoe (DE UiT). To achieve this, the CZ-NO HUB will establish strategic bilateral collaborations between the two institutions that will lead to long-term cooperation, knowledge transfer and mutual enrichment.

Summary of the results

The partnership between the Arctic UiT Tromso and RCFH  of Bata University in Zlín has facilitated mutual knowledge exchange, cultural understanding, capacity enhancement, and joint research initiatives formulated in three activities: organizing the Winter School at the UiT (March 18-21, 2024), a research stay of Professor Unn-Doris Baeck from the UiT Tromso at RCFH Zlín (April 30 to May 12, 2024), and the Summer School at the RCFH, Zlín (June 24-26, 2024). The activities were realized according to the plan and resulted in enhanced knowledge and skills of early career researchers and PhD students from both universities. During the Winter School in Tromso, featured lectures, workshops and seminars took place and the research cooperation network was established between both partners, focusing on adult education systems and lifelong learning. This collaboration has resulted in research papers: (1) "Adult Learning System in the Czech Republic", and (2) “Adult Learning System in Norway” already submitted to the peer-reviewed book “Adult Learning Systems in Context.”  Thanks to the research stay of prof. Back in Zlín mentoring and on-the-job trainings were given. Later, the consultations at the Summer School in Zlín led to policy recommendations to address educational inequality and lifelong learning in the Czech Republic were formulated, including several tailored measures to improve the Czech system and an outline for a joint future research agenda.
