Description
The initiative focuses on a specific interdisciplinary research area: medieval studies. It brings together specialists and advanced students of several disciplines of Medieval Studies, especially Old Norse, Latin, medieval history, archeology, auxiliary sciences, and digital humanities, from the Charles University in Prague and the University of Bergen. There will be two main activities ensuring the mutual knowledge transfer:
The 2-day conference focused on good practice presentation, methodology, and strategy, and
The 2-day exploratory workshop focused on more hands-on experience, particular
Summary of the results
The main result of the bilateral cooperation was the joint conference accompanied by a workshop in Bergen, June 18-25, 2023. 13 staff of the Charles University and 12 Norwegian partners participated. The event was successful - a number of synergies was created and cooperation established. The mutual understanding was improved, as was the knowledge of the field on both sides.
Moreover, a visit of Prof. Jacobsen to Prague in Oct. 2023 was realized thanks to savings. Prof. Jacobsen delivered a lecture and took part in preparation of the project podcast "Medieval Studies in the Digital World” launched on https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/medievalcuni/episodes/Medieval-Meets-Digital-e2f5s5n
Three interviews with project participants were published - with Kateřina Voleková in periodical Český bratr, with Ondřej Fúsik was published online
and an interview with Ondřej Tichý, published in the periodical Forum,
Both parties were excited about the opportunity to collaborate and everything went smoothly. The gained knowledge will be used primarily in preparation of a new research project proposal and scientific publications. One project proposal has already been submitted in Bergen.
