Description

Facing the refugee wave caused by brutal Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, encouraged by the letter of the Chair of the FMC, the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (MEYS) proposed an initiative to increase the knowledge of Czech of fled Ukrainian students and pedagogical staff.

There have been identified two target groups which have not yet been covered by financial support and therefore will be eligible without a double financing risk:

  1. Current or future students of Czech higher education institutions of Ukrainian citizenship with a sufferance visa;

  2. The pedagogical staff

Summary of the results

Course participants, 720 in total, learned the basics of the Czech language, necessary for further study and employment in the Czech Republic. In addition to language skills, thanks to the implemented courses, they also got to know cultural and social aspects of the Czech republic helping them integrate into the Czech society. As part of the courses, there were often accompanying activities (cultural events, local trips) that strengthened the integration and familiarization of the participants with the Czech environment.
