Description

An international performing arts festival for young audiences, SHOWBOX (https://www.showbox.no/en/about-showbox), is an event organized by the Norwegian partner every year since 2005. The main aim of this bilateral initiative was to discuss the conditions and principles that might apply also to the Prague theater scene to create more diversity, as the Norwegian system of distribution, production and building awareness of the theatre for children and young people is quite unique. The project also wanted to introduce Czech experts and representatives of the theatre for children and youth to the

Summary of the results

The bilateral activity included two performances of the Spitfire Company and one lecture by Dominika Špalková within the Show box festival in Norway. Subsequently two performances of the Jo Stromgen Company group and a joint lecture by Kjell Moberg and Adne Sekkelsten took place at Palác Akropolis in Prague. The Norwegian and Czech professional theatre public learned about the activities of partner organizations, which outlined the issues and possibilities of theatres for children and youth in these countries. It is essential, for the Czech domestic scene, to learn about the latest trends in children''s and youth theatres in Norway, which are among the European leaders in this area. Moreover, the Czech professional public learned about the financing of the Norwegian theatre for children and young people, which is differently structured than the domestic scene. We (two main partner organizations - Czech ART FRAME PALÁC AKROPOLIS s.r.o. and Norwegian Norsk scenekunstbruk A/S) have used this new experience when submitting the new project to the new EEA call (within programme CZ-CULTURE) focused especially on art. We have called the new project Rubicon as we feel that there is a future in youth and it is necessary to cross the Rubicon in order to find new possibilities for our future direction. We both believe that educational activities for children and young people are extremely important, especially at the present time, which is so prone to manipulating facts and information.
