Description

The growing impact of modern technologies on human rights, especially for vulnerable groups, requires urgent attention. This project aims to raise awareness and knowledge among future media, business and IT professionals in Norway and the Czech Republic, and to empower them to monitor and respond to technology-related human rights abuses. While sharing the results of an ongoing bilateral project in Czech Rep., during a working visit to Norway we will organize lectures for students, an expert panel and a cross-sectorial meeting to adapt educational content for future use in both countries.

Summary of the results

The project met our expectations and brought a number of significant benefits to our PCMS organisation, our usual target audience (students, journalists and media) and the other thematic focuses of the research area.

The cooperation with the partner organisation and experts from Norway was extremely beneficial, especially in terms of exchange of experience and know-how. Through this collaboration, we have gained valuable insights on the impact of digitalization and technology on human rights from different expertise and angles than we cover in PCMS (e.g. cybersecurity, infrastructure, etc.), which we have integrated into our outputs and training programmes.
For PCMS, this also means enriching the educational offerings and strengthening the professional capacity in monitoring and responding to human rights violations both in vulnerable groups and at the societal level.

Establishing relationships with Norwegian experts and institutions has also led to the creation of a network of cooperation that continues at the level of communication and exchange of experiences even after the end of the project, which contributes to the long-term sustainability of our activities.
