Description

The project builds on the current Aperio project "Discover Your Voice" (supported by ACF) which has created 9 informal regional networks for single parents in the Czechia who are creating their own community projects. Based on an invitation from our partner, we want to transfer our innovative practice to selected organizations in Norway. The project includes a 3-day stay in Norway with four successful participants of the "Discover Your Voice" project and aims to inspire and exchange experiences with each other. It will also support participants in the sustainability of their local projects.

Summary of the results

Aperio has been cooperating with an expert from a donor country for 12 years and once again it has been very beneficial. We presented our work and the achievements of our participants from the Discover Your Voice project (previous ACF grant) at the Regional Agency for Youth Mental Health in Oslo and at the Askim Volunteer Centre.  In return, we learned how community-based support for families works in Norway, as well as how work with parents and children affected by trauma is carried out. We had a number of discussions, learned and shared news about family policy in both countries, and gained new expertise for our organization. We immediately used some of our findings, for example, in an interview for Seznam Zpravy. Our participants (solo parents, alumni of the Discover Your Voice project) found the trip very beneficial, especially in terms of motivation - they learned a lot of useful tips on how to further develop their projects in their communities, saw how community life and parenting programs work in Norway, and gained strength and motivation for their further volunteer work in their communities.
