Description

At proFem, we are now developing PORT: a comprehensive center for sexual violence victims, where we will provide several new and unique services. At the same time, we have experience with other services, which we can share. The aim of the project is to enable this sharing with organisations in Iceland. And thus contribute to addressing current issues in PORT and to strengthen the specialized know-how of direct services for victims and multidisciplinary cooperation both in proFem and in the partner organization Stígamót. We will continue to share the information gained beyond our organisation.

Summary of the results

The aim of the project was to strengthen the know-how of services for victims of sexual violence and related multidisciplinary cooperation, which was achieved through a study trip to Iceland, which included discussion meetings with representatives from NGOs, police, hospitals and research institutions. Thanks to this diversity and interdisciplinarity, the organization''s staff gained insight not only into the set-up and functioning of the victim assistance system, but also into the direct work.
In addition to using the findings to set up the functioning of proFem''s services, or PORT - the first comprehensive centre for victims of sexual violence, dissemination was also ensured externally - through social networks and proFem''s website or one pager, which summarized the key points of the system''s functioning and the room for improvement in the country and was shared with the Commissioner for Human Rights.
