Description

The project focuses on the long-term unequal representation of women and men in Czech politics and the related insufficient consideration of women''s experience and needs at all levels of decision-making. It aims to gain new insights on the topics of promoting gender balance in politics and gender mainstreaming in policy-making and apply them to the work of the NGO Forum 50%. The findings from the study visit will be shared with the Czech public, incorporated into workshops for publicly active women and used as a basis for the organisation''s advocacy and watchdog activities.

Summary of the results

3 female employees of the 50% Forum gained new knowledge on the topics of promoting gender balance in politics and gender mainstreaming in policy-making. We processed the findings from the study trip and informed the Czech public about them through our website and social media. Last but not least, we also incorporated the findings into empowerment workshops for women politicians and publicly active women.

The findings of the study trip are of great benefit to the organisation, as they will serve as a basis for the organisation''s advocacy and watchdog activities, which are directed at representatives of political parties within the Committee on Equal Representation of Women and Men in Politics and Decision-Making Positions, which is chaired by a representative of the 50% Forum. It was important for us to find that political parties across the spectrum in Iceland agree on promoting gender equality as a key issue that they actively pursue, although they may use different tools (e.g. quotas).
