The Kopcany neighbourhood has only few areas where children canspend their free time safely and actively. At the same time there is a high proportion of children and young people at risk since there is a social shelter. The goal of the project is the development and stabilization on community work and social field work focused on children and youth, as well as pilot launching of advising service in a virtual environment. During the implementation 150 children and young people will be provided will educational, free time and advising activities and 2700 children and young people will be contacted through the social field work. Activities will be organized to decrease social tension, change the public space, and advising will be available to 30 parents and young adults. 10 employees of the organization will participate in the training. At the same time space for presentation of solutions and examples of good practice will be created, as well as new advising service in a virtual environment.
Summary of project results
The neighbourhood Kopcany has only a few areas where children can spend their free time safely and actively. At the same time there is a high proportion of children at risk and young people in the neighbourhood. The results sustainability is based on the prerequisite that regular work with children and youth can help develop their life skills and induce changes in both their behaviour and the way they solve stress situations. The objective of the project was to develop and stabilize both the community work and the social field work focused on children and youth, as well as to launch a pilot counselling service in the virtual environment. The long-term impacts include: sustainability of services provided, cooperation with local government representatives, online communication with clients, new work style in the housing development, work on changing the negative perception of the housing development. The outcome of the project: For children and youth, educational, free time, and counselling activities were provided. Activities were organized to decrease social tension and change the appearance of Kopčany’s public space. Advisory services were available to parents and young adults. Employees of the organization participated in training. Main outputs: 247 people involved in training, free-time, and counselling activities; 6,114 contacts; 176 people involved in 65 community events; 43 people involved in counselling; 2 changes in the appearance of housing development; 5 public presentations of housing development; 18 Ulita employees participating in training; 8 meetings with local government representatives; 1 new online counselling service Beneficiaries were involved through active spending of their free time in a safe and motivating environment. The club employees provided support to young people, helping them resolve stressful life situations. The free-time activities were of preventive and participative nature.
