Description

Children and youth with problem behaviour are often punished, undertake medical treatment or placed into detention or re-education centres. ART is a proven tool for effective help missing in Slovakia. The objective of the project is to bring Norwegian know-how - Aggression Replacement Training to Slovakia. Implementation of the project support: 40 trained professionals , 40 children and youth in risk. 40 professional will have competence implement ART in their work also after project completion. 4 trained professional will achieved super trainer level and thus will be competent continue in ART in Slovakia. The project will target professionals involved in NGOs or public organizations as well as children and youth with problem behaviour (and their families). Diakonhjemmet hoegskole – ART Centre as a donor partner, play crucial role in project implementation. Donor partner jointly plan the trainings, and 2 trainer accomplish whole training process with participants in Slovakia.

ART is a proven tool for effective help missing in Slovakia. The objective of the project was to bring Norwegian know-how - Aggression Replacement Training to Slovakia. They trained 41 professionals , 36 children and youth in risk. 41 professionals have competence implement ART in their work. 4 trained professionals had super trainer level and thus will be competent continue in ART in Slovakia. Diakonhjemmet hoegskole as a partner, played crucial role in project implementation. Partner jointly planned the trainings, and 2 trainers accomplished whole training process with participants in Slovakia (with potential of independent training center in Slovakia - super trainer level of 4 Slovak professionals). Project was not solely focused only on staff of NGO Návrat, but ART was open also for professionals from other NGOs or state agencies.

Summary of bilateral results

Diakonhjemmet hoegskole (University College) is a Norwegian university that founded ART Centre in 2007. Art Centre is lead by Knut Gundersen – founder of ART (Aggression Replacement Training) methodology in Norway. ART methodology was developed by as P. Goldstein in USA, but in Norway is expanded and use as tool of social work in many area. Art Centre and their super trainers as a partner played a crucial role in project implementation. Main goal of the partnership was transfer know-how of ART methodology into Slovakia. Partner jointly planned the trainings, and 2 trainers accomplished whole training process with participants in Slovakia. Main outcomes were 41 trained professionals, 4 of them with the highest level of reached education in ART – “super trainers”.
