In Nitra there is an alarming situation regarding the mass need of victims of violence for assistance. Creating a safe place for dealing with the sensitive themes of violence, as well as searching actively for the people in need would help to reduce gender-based violence in region of Nitra. The objective of the project is to establish counseling centers for victims of violence, actively search for these people, make the themes of violence public for prevention and create an information method. The project is expected to : 1. Establish the counseling center providing comprehensive services for victims of violence. 2. Ensure the search of potential victims and early intervention in the natural environment of the client. 3. Ensure sufficient awareness of the general public, as well as potential victims of gender-based violence by spreading the necessary information in public. The target groups are victims of the domestic and gender-based violence, children and drug addicted persons. The role of the partner is to help to search for potential clients during the street work. The partnership will achieve an effective system of mutual help for people in need, especially for drug addicts and victims of the violence.
Summary of project results
The needs of the project comes from "hidden" violence (not only domestic but also gender affiliated violence) between partners and mostly in context of dependency behaviour. Although this category of target group is well known (prevalence of violence in family environment of addicted clients), there is still not enough attention and interventions towards this phenomena (from the practice as well as from research). The project´s objectives were fully achieved - setting up a professionally oriented counselling centre (victims and their families), creating and providing straight centred specialized interventions (looking for clients in their natural environments, running a self-help group for victims and their families etc.). One of the result is that organizations working in this area created a cooperation platform and are working more systematically, interventions are more specialized and service users in our region are getting used to and are appreciated it. Organization Buducnost, n. o. with the project partner STORM provided exactly 460 interventions to 131 service users in 125 cases. Behind these strong numbers are different life stories of our clients suffering and struggling with addictions and the violence. Thanks to implementation of the project their lives were getting a better direction by professional help and interventions provided in the centre and in their nature environments. We have produced and realised new systemic approach, new interventions (individual and group social counselling in the area of gender violence and addiction). Other aspect (as the result of the project) was the pressure towards increasing quality of provided services (to make a process more effective, to apply for accreditation in providing social services etc.). 1. 460 interventions to 131 service users in 125 cases during very short time period, 2. Creation of specialized and functional sef-help group, 3. Creation and distribution of basic information about the target group and main negative phenomena towards public (gender violence, addiction, providing of specialized services etc.) - campaign/PR strategy etc. Full list of results and outputs of the project in different time periods is available in project monitoring reports.
