Description
The Prešov region is one of the Slovakia regions with the lowest standard of living and the highest level of unemployment in particular among the Roma. The district of Kežmarok, where the school "Private gymnasium" is located, has the highest concentration of Roma in Slovakia. The goal of the project is to increase the educational level of the Roma minority. The outcome of the project will be a textbook of Roma language and a textbook of Roma realities. The project envisages the involved teachers and students to organize at least 8 sociocultural events at school and at the communities from which the students come. There they will meet with local authorities and Roma activists and together they will search for the space for active cooperation. This way they will reduce tension that affects the quality of life of both sides.
Summary of project results
By project Implementation, the school together with its school representatives , teachers and students entered into the public awareness in Slovakia and also abroad , as students have participated in several cultural and social events in several European cities . In subsequent years, the project will be further implemented through the school educational programme , as the subject Romani language and Roma culture will continue .
