Description
The project is focused on the integration of knowledge about climate change into the environmental education in school and on the implementation of water detention measures in the school area. The objective of the project is to increase awareness and knowledge regarding the adaptation to climatic changes. It is expected that the project will create a system of environmental education curricula focused on climate change and rainwater management and that it will publish project information to the general public on the Internet. The curricula focused on management of rainwater and climatic changes will be modified for the school education programme. It is also expected to build such adaptation measures as: rainwater garden, underground tank, new planting of trees and sprays irrigation. Children, students and civil services are expected to benefit from the project's implementation.
Summary of project results
Retaining of the rainwater and utilizing it as a service water at our school, saving of drinking water and ensuring evaporation and infiltration of water – we joined the project The encouragement of teaching the climate changes and the utilizing of the rainwater with this intention. Through the activities during the lessons and through the adaptive arrangements we have increased the awarness of our pupils and the community about adjusting to the climate changes. We realized planting of two rainwater gardens, 17 trees, green wall, we built 2 underground storage tanks for the rainwater and infiltration blocks, we set up 2 amphoras for retaining of the rainwater. Except for the main aim – the management of the rainwater, we enhanced the outer area of our school.
