Description

The project will focus on rainwater harvesting, recycling and reuse. It will involve children, parents, local communities and the general public. The objective of the project is to increas public environmental awareness in adaptation to climate change issues. Through the project implementation, the volume of rainwater that is reused will be achieved and the knowledge among children about climate change adaptation measures will be raised. The curricula focused on management of rainwater and climatic changes will be modified for the school education programme. Educational activities focused on environment will also be organised. Children, students and civil services are expected to benefit from the project implementation. The partner, Carpe diem, will help the school with practical information about the implementation of adaptation measures.

Summary of project results

The aim of the school project was to solve pilot problems of training and education within the educational process. Therefore, the applicant's intention was to increase the efficiency of environmental education. The project objective was an important part of the education of our students to appreciate our nature, not only in theory but also in practical level by preparation of various types of adaptation measures on school grounds. Set goals have been complied with. The part of the framework of the school curriculum was also the subject Management of Rainwater for 2nd to 9th grade.The school created maximum efforts and the best possible conditions for the realization of all the objectives and outputs. Maximum effort was involved in the activities set out in the project and also form conditions for teachers that their efforts in implementing activities also had excellent feedback not only by students, but also parents who cooperate in some activities. There was made ENVIROCLASSROOM, created the FLORA and FAUNA corner in the school area, ENVIROPATH, or rest and educational corner in the outer school area, the school organizes a 2-day camping (ENVIROCAMP) in the nearby village Kalinov each year, regularly updates enviro notice boards, or other promotional materials relating to the cycle water in nature. The whole school action named ´Don´t Throw it out, Use it´, where PET bottles were used to produce various products, run whole year. The knowledge acquired by students in the subject Management of Rainwater can be verified in the methodological papers created by school teachers in lessons or in organizing events named ´We heal herbs´, where pupils, by tasting herbal teas, become acquainted with herbs, their usage and methods of cultivation. The project has developed and implemented the measures to adapt to climate change, increased students' awareness in climate change adaptation in the learning process and extra-curricular activities of children. It was created wider range of adaptation measures (enviropath, rest and educational corner, enviroclassroom, flora corner ...). Beneficiary arranged to plant trees in the number of 100 pieces and ornamental plants and rock plants. Primary school adapted curriculum and updated school educational program and the school website.
