Description

The University of Ljubljana wrote in its strategy that strengthening and enhancing international mobility is one of it's more important goals. With active participation in the EEA programme we are planning to achieve a permanent increase in incoming and outgoing student mobilities, as well as staff among programme countries. The promotion of the EEA programme, planned activities and the numerous exchanges greatly contribute to a stronger and intensive cooperation within the EEA program, is strengthening the ties between participating universities/ organisations and can open for various activities, not only mobility. These organisations are: University of Bergen (Norway), University of Oslo (Norway), University of Nordland (Norway), Bifrost University (Iceland), University of Iceland (Iceland), Haugesund Kulturskole (Norway), NTNU Samfunnsforskning AS (Norway), UiT - The Arctic University of Norway (Norway) and Icelandic Human Rights Centre (Iceland). Intense cooperation between teaching staff leads towards the building of joint curricula, intensive programs and cooperation in various other projects. Increased mobility between higher education institutions and enterprises brings greater flow of knowledge into practice and back, thereby developing competences. It also includes students in the work and research environment, and experts from the field in the teaching and research process. Participation in EEA programme will increase enormously the likelihood of achieving these goals.

Summary of project results

University of Ljubljana entered into the project of the Slovene scholarship fund SI04, EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanism in order to achieve the objectives that it has set in the university International strategy for the period 2012-2020. The strategy has identified internationalization and the international flow of knowledge and visibility as one of the strategic priorities. Mobility to Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein enabled students, teachers and university's employees to access advanced education and gain new experience and knowledge in the field of higher education. With this project the University wanted to reach higher number of mobile persons to project countries, with a significant emphasis on student mobility, especially internships. With quite some effort we managed to alocate most of the founds and approve most of the applicants.

Summary of bilateral results

University of Ljubljana has already signed bilateral agreements with HEI from all three donor countries, but are to procure new ones to facilitate additional mobilities and new partnerships. The project has helped to strengthen existing partnerships and thus ensure their continuation and with the planned activities of mobility will contribute to the principal goals of the mechanisms: enhancing human capital and knowledge base. We have to expose that in some cases we were quite disappointed on response of high education institutions from donor countries as in many case doors for new cooperation were closed, so some of the outcomes were not reached. We hope this obstacle could be solved in the future as there are many good ideas of cooperation still to be realised.
