Description

The principal activity of the project "Education without Borders" is teacher mobility that will be carried out with the goal to exchange professional knowledge and teaching techniques. Teachers will be hosted at donor project partner - "Kunstschule Liechtenstein" in February 2014. Cooperation will take place in the field of teaching art theory, design, basics of cultural heritage, fashion, sustainable development and artistic photography and "job shadowing" the organization of work in the partner school. The aim of the project is to increase bilateral cooperation, exchange of teaching methods between the two schools. It will result in an exhibition that will raise awareness for the international mobility and cooperation and it will continue the bilateral cooperation in the future.

Summary of project results

The project brought together two high schools of art from Slovenia and Liechtenstein, which do not only differ in geographical location, but also in a different social environment. Teachers who participated in this project had the opportunity to share experiences with their colleagues abroad, to team-teach in a foreign language, to learn new teaching methods and to develop personally. During the exchange, our high school teacher Jeronima Kastelic gained new competences and skills, of which she will take every advantage, especially in teaching at the school of origin. The newly- acquired knowledge and experience will also be used in carrying out new international projects in the field of education, architecture and management of the living environment. One of the most important achievements of the project were various workshops carried out with the participation of both schools. Those took place out at the high school “Kunstschule Liechtenstein”. The students created artworks on the topic of family while keeping dignity, integrity and the elimination of gender-based violence in their minds. Within the architectural workshop the students presented modern approaches to eliminating architectural barriers for the physically impaired residents of the city.

Summary of bilateral results

The partner school “Kunstschule Liechtenstein” has made it possible for our teacher Jeronima Kastelic to teach there during one month and ensured her a proper working environment. A modern teaching technology, laboratories and specialized workshops were all at her disposal for work purposes. During her stay in Liechenstein she had the opportunity of guided visits to several cultural institutions as well as local sights. At all the time of her stay she had a professional support her co-workers, the opportunity to exchange good teaching practices and the possibility of professional training. This project has definitely deepened the knowledge of two different countries, their school systems and created a new international experience. At the end of this project we have shared those precious experiences with teachers at partner schools, with the wider local community and with the Norwegian Ambassador Tove Skarstein during her visit to Ljubljana on 4 June 2014.
