Description

Re-use of discarded computer equipment for the benefit of socially disadvantaged and NGOs is the core of the project Computers for all. The aim is to enhance the activity with the equipment, tools and expertise of partners, associated in a cross-sectoral network. This will significantly contribute to the rise of digital literacy of target groups and reduce the proportion of wasted computer equipment. During the project they will: recycle at least 300 computers and donate them to the target group, set 25 wlan points, modernize working processes and prepare a five-year development action plan. Effects of enhanced promotion will be particularly visible in the three localities o fthe project - Sežana, Novo mesto and Ljubljana.

Summary of project results

Re-use of discarded computer equipment for the benefit of socially disadvantaged and NGOs was the core of the project Computers for all. The aim was to enhance the activity with the equipment, tools and expertise of partners, associated in a cross-sectoral network. This has significantly contributed to the rise of digital literacy of target groups and reduced the proportion of wasted computer equipment. During the project they overachieved most of the indicators. They recycled over 650 computers (goal was set at 300), got 18 new donors (goal 10) and implemented 111 workshops (planned 96). They also managed to set up 25 wlan points and established a new recycling center in Novo mesto. Most of the work was done by volunteers of partners involved. They all trained new volunteers for recycling of computers, adopted several code of conduct (for removal of all data from donated computers, double-checking the computers before donating them to final beneficiaries, establishment of full tracking of donated equipment and beneficiaries who received it etc.).
