Description

The project aims to facilitate the women and mothers’ reintegration on the labour market by developing the first centre for social services for children up to 3 years from Baicoi City. The parents who work or who want to return to work after the pregnancy period do not have enough alternatives to ensure the balance between the appropriate child development and their own professional satisfaction, so this nursery supports them. The project aims to facilitate the reintegration on the labour market of women from Baicoi by promoting gender equality and the balance between work and private life. Also, the project will contribute to the decrease of gender stereotypes at the level of population from the local community and sustain the inclusion on the labour market of women by promoting the principle of equality of opportunities and gender and by implementing certain information and educational campaigns. During this project the first nursery in the city will be created, by which the access of a minimum of 40 children is ensured to basic educational activities, out of which 5 are Roma origin. The development of the nursery will have as result the reintegration of 40 mothers on the labour market as the nursery offers an alternative for raising children in the safest conditions. The project will increase the degree of information for pregnant women and mothers regarding the rights they have according to legislation and the possibility for integration on the labour market through round tables, workshops and seminars. The project also contributes to increasing the inclusion of women on the labour market by organizing psychological counseling meetings, mediation meetings, and round tables on the subject of female entrepreneurship. The Roma community’s image will improve locally, by the participation of the children in the nursery, together with children of other ethnicity and through information activities that envisage both the Roma and the members of the other ethnicities.

Summary of project results

Through a grant of 340.840 euros, Baicoi Municipality opened a center for 40 children, out of which 5 Roma. The main objective of the project is to facilitate the reintegration on the labor market of women in the town of Baicoi, Prahova county, by promoting the principles of gender equality and work-life balance. The reintegration into the labor market of women in Băicoi is achieved through the development of this first center for providing social services for children aged 0-3 years. The project adds value to the community from 0 to 3 years in Baicoi through the innovative methods that are used in the education process. At present, this is the first early education center in the municipality, covering a small percentage of the need, as there are approximately 725 children under the age of 3. The project contributes to improving the quality of life of families with children in the town of Baicoi. The beneficiaries of the daycare center are children up to 3 years of age who have a normal life regime and a complex educational program, age-matched, with physical and mental development including the acquisition of hygienic skills and measures to prevent and combat diseases in early ages. It provides children with access to better education as well as the continuation and development of adult professional careers by developing an integrated and sustainable program that helps promote gender equality within the local community. The promoter also held an awareness raising campaign, that consisted of activities that fostered inclusion in the labor market of women who want to engage after the period of raising children, for a target group of 20 people, of which 5 Roma . Due to the fact that the initial technical plan had to be redrawn due to some unpredicted modifications that were mandatory, the building contract was suspended for a few months, but the contractor made up further on for the lost time. The promoter also had some difficulties in recruting the children, but now the center operates at full capacity.
