Description

The town of Great Iecea has a Roma population of around 300 people, forming 67 households of around about 200 adults and 91 children. Due to a number of factors such as poverty, inadequate and overcrowded living spaces, low level of education of parents, unemployment, and parents working in another country, the local Roma children and youth are at high risk of social exclusion. The main objective of the project is the development of infrastructure to enable the social integration of members of Roma population living in the commune, through the establishment of the Educational and Professional Facilitation Center Iecea Mare. The project comprises the renovation and rigging up of a building with historical value, which will host activities aimed at a target group of 40 children (38 Roma) and 30 young people (26 Roma) at risk, 100 parents and members of the Roma community from the Iecea Mare commune and 10 professionals and volunteers who deal directly with the main target group.
