“Click on volunteering” is an answer to the lack of information and sensitization on volunteering in Vrancea county, where this concept still needs to be disseminated. The main objective of the project is to spread the concept and practices of volunteering as powerful means of active citizenship in the life of civil society, as an instrument for fostering social inclusion and acquiring useful skills through non formal education. The project is expected to promote volunteering experiences, to facilitate dialogue and networking among local NGOs and institutions, and to enhance NGO's capacity building. The project envisages 4 main actions: developing a guide on volunteering opportunities in Vrancea, the involvement of youngsters/citizens in volunteering experiences, training courses and a photographic exposition. The direct beneficiaries of the project will are youngsters and citizens that will be sensitized on volunteering.
Summary of project results
The project was conceived taking into account the local context of Vrancea County, where initiatives of solidarity and youth involvement are very few. The 3 partners decided to design a project in order to sensitize citizens to volunteering as a powerful instrument of active citizenship, solidarity and social responsibility. The objective of the project has been reached and, in some ways, exceeded: during the 12 months of project implementation, the three local associations managed to involve 229 young volunteers in their daily socio-educational activities. More than 850 people found out about volunteering, solidarity and civic activism thanks to training courses, raising awareness events and solidarity workshops in schools. The main results of the project are: a “Guide to Volunteering Opportunities in Vrancea County”, that includes local organisations and public institutions interested in working with volunteers; two training courses for volunteers management addressed to 23 representatives of non-profit and public sectors; five „Open Doors” events and solidarity workshops in schools for a total of 423 students and teachers; 3 ecology events; a photographic competition on volunteering world, that involved 20 European volunteers; one itinerant photo exhibition. In addition to the promotion of active citizenship, the project managed to trigger a change in local society in what concerns the promotion of democratic values and the development of networks between NGOs and public institutions. Beneficiaries of the implemented actions have been: representatives of local NGOs and public institutions that increased networking and exchanged good practice experiences during the trainings in which they were involved; youth and citizens of Vrancea County that found out about new volunteering opportunities.
