Summary of project results

The project “Volunteers for the future of our community” aimed to increase the involvement of the civil society in Bacau local community’s activities by volunteering, to attract new financial resources from the community, and to organise different types of volunteering activities in order to develop new abilities and values amongst the new generation. Therefore, during the project, the Community Support Foundation succeeded to: create a new volunteering centre, with multiple facilities for the volunteers in Bacau; develop fundraising campaigns in order to organise summer camps for disadvantaged children from the rural part of Bacau county; promote volunteering by organising a volunteer fair where 16 NGOs participated and over 1800 people were able to find out about the volunteering opportunities in Bacau; reward organisations and volunteers for their activity during 2014 by organizing the Volunteers Gala of Bacau county. Over 500 young people were involved in the community projects and benefited of continuous education activities: trainings, debates and teambuilding. The volunteers supported over 600 beneficiaries of social services in residential centres for children, centres for the elderly and Bacau County Hospital’s patients. During the final event of the project, the brochure “I am a Volunteer in Bacau” was launched - it centralised over 30 organisations in Bacau County who promoted their projects and their volunteering opportunities. Together with their partner – VOLUM Federation – they also organised a regional seminar where there were discussed problems that Bacau county NGOs were confronting with, starting from their financing needs and ending with problems with volunteers' management.
