Description

Support voluntary initiatives for disadvantaged groups in rural areas is the goal advanced by the Association Impact Truşeşti in partnership with the City Hall of Trusesti within the project "Volunteer Center-resources and opportunities for Truşeşti village" which will be held for 12 months in Trușești village, Botoșani County. This objective will be achieved through: the establishment of a Volunteer Center, a campaign to promote the benefits of volunteering, offering a three months mentoring program and creative workshops for 30 children from secondary school, with educational difficulties and that come from disadvantaged families (including Roma families). Our expected results are: a functional volunteering center, 1000 citizens that are informed about volunteering opportunities, 20 volunteers trained, a mentoring program consisting of educational support for improving the acquisition of reading, writing, mathematical computing and socioeducative activities for social skills development and 6 creative workshops where the children will learn napkin technique, quiling technique and how to make jewelry objects

Summary of project results

Constant support for voluntary initiatives for disadvantaged groups in rural areas was the goal of the Impact Trusesti Association in partnership with the City Hall of Trusesti within the project "Volunteer Centre-resources and opportunities for Trusesti village". This project aimed to promote, mobilize and provide opportunities for Trusesti community members to involve in voluntary activities for disadvantaged groups. This objective was achieved by creating a volunteer centre in Trusesti community where young people living in the village (high-school students) were able to provide specialized support for remedial schooling for children with lower opportunities and helped them to overcome gaps in the acquisition of reading, writing and numeracy. The volunteer centre in Trusesti has a humanitarian role by promoting volunteering and putting people in a close connection to other people with real opportunities to lend a helping hand. Therefore, 20 volunteers developed skills to implement a mentoring program and creative workshops for 30 children with school difficulties, children that came from poor families. Another 10 volunteers were involved in activities concerning the management of the Volunteer Centre and administrative activities for the Promoter. The objectives were achieved as the volunteer centre is properly equipped, 30 volunteers were trained and coordinated throughout the implementation period (initial training course, teambuilding and exchange of experience), 30 children have benefited from an education program and workshops for 8 months, over 2000 citizens were informed about the existing of the Volunteer Centre in the community and the benefits of volunteering. Within the project there were organized two events where volunteers, experts and representatives of local institutions discussed on topics related to volunteering and shared personal experiences about how volunteering had an impact on their personal and professional life. At the end of the project there was organized a street exhibition with objects made by children during the three creative workshops: handmade jewellery, quilling and napkin technique workshops. The project had a significant impact as it was the first of its kind in the village. The results will be supported by the partnerships established, by the newly created volunteer team and by identifying new sources of funding.
