Description

For quite some time now, the Association is conscious of its organizational limitations and insufficiencies, to which there has been no opportunity at all of allocating resources in order to allow for a better performance. This project aims to quell the detected frailties by intervening in areas, which are transversal to the whole of the Association. This will be carried out as a complement of the work already being undertaken in the voluntary and professional structures and it will be specifically directed to areas such as the follow-up of complaints related to public policies and law infringement, the organization of the volunteers, campaign management, finding new associates, the operationalization of the QuercusTV and the training of new leaders. Therefore, this project will provide the further reinforcing of Quercus leadership and participation in the environmentalist movement and at the same time ensure an increase of the lobbying ability regarding environmental public policies.

Summary of project results

An environment protection NGO created an online platform through this project, “EcoWatch”, to improve various aspects of its activity. One important component to be created was an on-line public opinion awareness-raising and e-learning tool, “QuercusTV”, which was also furnished with 48 of the promoter’s documentaries on environmental issues. Training sessions were provided to 70 of the NGO’s staff on this tool and on other relevant topics. The project created innovative, accessible and widespread tools that proved very useful – for example, by the time the project was concluded, 966 complaints had been received via this channel regarding harmful behaviours against the environment. Fundraising and volunteer enlistment campaigns had also been successfully carried out. Since the platform requires little financial and human resources for its operation, this investment was a significant contribution for the promoter’s future sustainability.
