Summary of project results
The main objective of the project was to improve public health and to limit societal inequality in terms of healthcare in the district of Piła. Objectives have been achieved. The project was implemented without cooperation with either Polish or foreign entities. The beneficiary did not benefit from support of Bilateral Partnership Fund. Following activities have been conducted within the project: 1. Project management: personnel costs, acquisition of a laptop computers with preinstalled software for the project manager and for medical coordinator, travel expenses, acquisition of office supplies and office equipment for the purposes of the project. The activity covers organizational and preparatory works necessary for correct implementation of the project, followed by coordination and monitoring. 2. Reserve: according to terms and conditions of the contest, financial reserve was established. 3. Information and promotion: special allowance for project promotion specialist, acquisition of information and promotion materials, three press conferences, creation, hosting and technical support of a website dedicated to the project, press announcements. 4. Preventive medical examinations for cancer: questionnaires, remuneration for medical receptionist, preventive medical checkups for lung cancer, preventive medical checkups for breast cancer, preventive medical checkups for colorectal cancer, carriage of persons to examinations. Epidemiological report on population of Pila district has been drawn up, based on a questionnaire. 5. Cancer awareness promotion: eight health picnics, eight medical society meetings, two seminars for Primary Care doctors and medical personnel, workshops for students of upper secondary schools, anti-tobacco campaign in upper secondary schools, cancer awareness contests, non-verbal communication, educational campaign, pro-health campaign. Proposal has been submitted for the follow-up actions – pro-health campaign for residents of Pila district – “We say NO to cancer. Prevention=health”. The campaign consisted of: eight pro-health meetings in four shopping centers, involving an MD, nurses and a dietician; an event summarizing the series of pro-health meetings; promotion in the media; “Family Run-For-Health”. The Pila district plans to maintain sustainability of the project and disseminate its results through a project website
