Description

The main aim of the project is health improvement; prevention and diminution of lifestyle related diseases. Epidemiological data indicates a dramatic health situation in Lodz related to digestive system diseases, often as a result of alcohol abuse and malnutrition which show the necessity to create a complex prophylactic and sanitary program. The project will reduce the mortality rate mainly through extensive prevention activities which will reduce chronic liver diseases associated with lifestyle; increase its diagnosis and public health status. Health competencies will be built including health education and health promotion, which will reduce the risk for liver disease associated with lifestyle. The project indicators will be achieved through the organization of classes, workshops, educational and health-promoting events and preventive examinations. The targets of the project are women and men (18-64 year) at risk of alcohol abusing problems; women and men (18-64 year) at risk of overweight and obesity and educational and prevention activities aimed at children and teenagers.

Summary of project results

The aim of the project was to improve health status of the residents of Lodz by decreasing the incidence of life style related chronic liver diseases, including hepatic cirrhosis and steatosis resulting from obesity and alcohol abuse. It focused on prevention, health education and promotion of healthy lifestyle. Two diagnostic packages: gastrological and cardiological were offered. Total number of participants: 52.5 thousand residents of Łódź. statistics: • Educational theatrical term in school age: 26 thousand. viewers • Art workshops and scientific cuisine: 6,000 participant • Workshops with a psychologist and dietitian in secondary schools: 3.7 thous. participant • Physical activities and health education in kindergartens: 5,500 participant • Embarkation for adults: 3.3 thous. pupil, • Diagnostic tests (gastrological, cardiological) for adults: 8.5 thousand people • Educational materials: for educational brochures for children, youth and adults - 80,000 copies., for a culinary guide for children and young people - 40,000 copies., for an educational game for children - 30,000 art for a guide on healthy eating for adults - 48 thousand copies. The aim of the project has been achieved. The project was not implemented in partnership with any Polish or foreign institutions.
