Description

The need to implement the project results from the following facts: o Lack of modern equipment for life and health saving of newborns in the hospital. o Insufficient skills of medical personnel in area of neonatal resuscitation and preparation for transport. o Lack of sufficient ability to satisfy needs of newborns requiring re-hospitalization. o Insufficient awareness of parents concerning the first symptoms of disease in newborns. o Unmet demands for services in the field of perinatal care (including intensive care) of newborns in Wielkopolska and Poznan. o The necessity to meet the needs of newborns’ health care in Poznan and Wielkopolska province due to current social and demographic situation.  The aim of the project is to improve the quality and increase the availability of infant care, including intensive neonatal care in Poznań and the whole Wielkopolska province. The project will contribute to the improvement of newborns’ health and reduction of their mortality.It will be achieved by the following indicators:  Patients taking advantage of improved health services – 1000  Training sessions for medical personnel – 43  Participants of the Childbirth Education Classes – 1575  Training participants in cooperating centres – 225  Medical personnel trained – 433  Pieces of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment purchased – 59  Pieces of ICT equipment bought – 2  Pieces of other equipment bought − 7 Project aims at the following groups:  Infants  Women of child-bearing potential  Families of infants  Medical personnel  Provincial Hospital in Poznań, Neonatal Ward with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit − providing specialist medical services as a secondary medical centre for patients from the whole province of Wielkopolska.  Primary neonatal medical units from the province of Wielkopolska

Summary of project results

The PL07 project number 172/07/13 called “Improving the standard of infant care in the province of Wielkopolska by providing additional equipment to the Provincial Hospital in Poznań” was implemented by Provincial Hospital in Poznań from September 2015 till April 2017. Total eligible project cost amounted to 3 078 079 PLN. MF NFM grant amounted to 2 462 463 PLN. The objective of the project was to improve the quality and increase the availability of infant care, including intensive neonatal care in Poznań and the whole Wielkopolska province. The educational part of the project was also a very important issue. The project was implemented successfully – all project results and indicators are achieved except the number of participants of the “School for Parents” (Childbirth Education Classes). Most of the indicators are even exceeded. Main target groups: infants, women of child-bearing potential, families of infants, medical personnel, Provincial Hospital in Poznań, Neonatal Ward with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit − providing specialist medical services as a secondary medical centre for patients from the whole province of Wielkopolska, primary neonatal medical units from the province of Wielkopolska. Activities implemented within the project: 1. Purchase of diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment. 2. Educational programme including: trainings of medical staff, trainings of parents. 3. Information and promotion including: opening seminar, press conference, closing conference, press advertisements, leaflets. Main products of the project: - Patients taking advantage of improved health services – 1552 - Training sessions for medical personnel – 48 - Participants of the “School for Parents” – 1006 - Training participants in cooperating centres – 503 - Medical personnel trained – 854 - Pieces of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment purchased – 106 - Pieces of ICT equipment bought – 2 - Pieces of other equipment bought − 8 The project was implemented independently, without partnership and the support of the Fund for Bilateral Relations.
